East Lake-Orient Park quality of life -am I missing something?

Longtime lurker here, I'm a 46-year-old writer and The median home value here is around $221,500, which is actually reasonable. Average temperature is around 74--F, so it's warm year-round. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 2 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in North for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- The cost of living scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
