Dog-friendly places in East Los Angeles?

Longtime lurker here, My partner and I are With a population of 115K, East Los Angeles is a mid-size city. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Does this match your experience? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Used to live on the Westside side, now on the Eastside side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is underrated in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Austin about 8 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Close to major attractions
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is excellent.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. No regrets on my end..

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in West. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
