Hello, Born and raised here. With a population of 115K, East Los Angeles is a mid-size city. You can expect to pay around $1,431 for rent here. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Let me know your thoughts. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from San Francisco about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is improving.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Good luck with whatever you decide..
