Raising a family in East Los Angeles -thoughts?

So, I relocated for work and It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Should I be concerned?

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 9 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

The food scene here is better than expected. Tons of great farm-to-table places. it's been a really good experience overall.

Moved here from Minneapolis about 9 years ago. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Still getting used to traffic but Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if food scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
