Not sure if this has been asked before, but I work in real estate and Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. Median household income is $68,378, which feels about average for the area. The median home value here is around $613,600, which is pretty steep. With a population of 115K, East Los Angeles is a mid-size city. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

Bought a house here in 2021 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

I've lived in East for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- The community vibe scene is tough
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- The school system scene is improving
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in West area are excellent. Kids love it here.
