Anyone else feel this way? I'm single, late 20s, and The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -East Meadow sits at 26.2 per 100K. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Should I be concerned? Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great Mediterranean places. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Raleigh about 1 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is solid.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want housing market, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
