Is East Meadow walkable?

We have two kids and It's a a smaller city city with about 35,806 people. Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. Homes are going for about $613,900 on average. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.
