What surprised you most about East Meadow?

Random thought, We're a young couple and It's a a smaller city city with about 35,806 people. The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Worth the trade-offs? The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Springfield. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Definitely worth checking out..
