My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is nightlife. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much pricey but now it's average.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want school system, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely decent and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (North) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely average and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 11 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

The food scene here is tough. Tons of great Italian places. I genuinely enjoy living here.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Midtown. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in marketing. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
