I'm retired and Rent is about $1,181/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 1.6%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $61,922 in East Milton. You can expect to pay around $1,181 for rent here. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Worth the trade-offs? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much manageable but now it's surprisingly good.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The healthcare is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 11 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Riverside for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- The food scene scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
