Hey folks, You can expect to pay around $826 for rent here. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Is this normal for East Moline? The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in East for 7 years. Moved from Salt Lake City for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. East schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Homeless population growing downtown. Limited entertainment options. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 8/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much established but now it's underrated.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from Houston about 3 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Salt Lake City it's tough.
