Median household income is $51,250, which feels on the lower side for the area.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Baltimore about 10 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are affordable, gas is decent.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value food scene, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2022 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
- The food scene scene is tough
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited high-paying job options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely hit or miss and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Riverside) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Limited entertainment options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Uptown. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Asian.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

If you value school system, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Fairview) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Westside. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in marketing. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Good luck with whatever you decide..
