Working remotely from East Niles

Been meaning to ask this. I've been here for 7 years and With a population of 28,586, East Niles is a smaller city. The unemployment rate is 6.2%, which is concerning. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What neighborhoods would you suggest? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Phoenix about 3 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. No regrets on my end..

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.
