The good and bad of living in East Norwich

Crime rate is something to consider -East Norwich sits at 22.0 per 100K. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Would love some local perspective. Cheers. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Dallas about 10 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Eastside. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 11 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.
