Anyone else feel this way? Median household income is $59,872, which feels about average for the area. With a population of 69,183, East Orange is a smaller city. The unemployment rate is 6.8%, which is concerning. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. What would you do? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is average in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Baltimore about 7 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Baltimore about 3 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The cultural scene is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.
