Things East Peoria needs to improve
Not sure if this has been asked before, but I grew up here but left for a while. Homes are going for about $160,800 on average. Household incomes average around $71,763 in East Peoria. Rent is about $894/month for a decent place. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.
Pros:
- Easy commute
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events
Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Rising rent prices
- High property taxes
- Limited cultural events
What would you do? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development.
