Considering East Point vs Kansas City -help me decide
Hi all, Poverty rate is 19.7%, which is higher than I expected. The unemployment rate is 5.8%, which is about average. Homes are going for about $247,500 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,314 for rent here. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Looking forward to hearing from you all. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.

I've lived in Old Town for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Close to major attractions
- The cost of living scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited high-paying job options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 1 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is excellent.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Definitely worth checking out..
