First post here. I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Average temperature is around 64--F, so the weather is moderate. Household incomes average around $58,983 in East Point. Rent is about $1,314/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -East Point sits at 1,291.4 per 100K. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. Am I overthinking this? Cheers. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a social worker, 48, moved here 9 years ago from New York. I've lived in Uptown and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The dating scene situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for couples. tough vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $100K-$150K here.
**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Bought a house here in 2016 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 7 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

The food scene here is better than expected. Tons of great Asian places. it's improved dramatically in recent years.
