Relocating to East Point, GA -pros and cons?

Hi all, Crime rate is something to consider -East Point sits at 1,291.4 per 100K. Poverty rate is 19.7%, which is higher than I expected. Household incomes average around $58,983 in East Point. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Should I be concerned? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is better than expected in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a HR manager, 34, moved here 15 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in South and The Heights, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited shopping options
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The walkability situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for retirees. underrated vibes, walkable.
- The Heights: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $80K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 13 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..
