Is public transit usable in East Providence?

Been meaning to ask this. I'm a 55-year-old real estate agent and Homes are going for about $322,100 on average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 2 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Old Town. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in finance. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely average and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The housing market is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from New York about 10 years ago. The main reasons were school and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is solid.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Feel free to reach out with questions..
