Working in East Rancho Dominguez -salaries realistic?

Hi all, Just moved here 11 months ago and You can expect to pay around $1,593 for rent here. It's a a small town city with about 14,219 people. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I wrong here? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Hot take but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 6 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Came here for family and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The weather is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if traffic matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Greenfield. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in tech. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 11 years ago. The main reasons were family and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are reasonable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
