Hello, The unemployment rate is 3.9%, which is pretty low. The weather takes some getting used to. Thoughts?

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is tough in most areas.

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in West area are excellent. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 1 years ago. The main reasons were family and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is excellent.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Used to live on the South side, now on the Maple Ridge side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Denver about 13 years ago. The main reasons were work and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is average.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Definitely worth checking out..

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I work in marketing here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is hit or miss. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Close to major attractions
- The public transit scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
