Remote worker thinking about East Rockaway

Rent is about $2,297/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $112,415 in East Rockaway. The unemployment rate is 1.9%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Thoughts? The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

Bought a house here in 2015 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much reasonable but now it's average.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 8 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
