Rent in East San Gabriel getting crazy

Hey everyone, Median household income is $107,184, which feels pretty solid for the area. Household incomes average around $107,184 in East San Gabriel. Homes are going for about $955,000 on average. Rent is about $1,912/month for a decent place. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Minneapolis about 9 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is tough.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Happy to answer more specific questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. the quality of life is solid. Internet is tough in most areas.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..
