Considering East Setauket vs Boston -help me decide

Hey, Born and raised here. With a population of 10,385, East Setauket is a small town. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Active local events and festivals
- The walkability scene is decent

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. No regrets on my end..
