East Shoreham quality of life -am I missing something?

Hey, I work in healthcare and Homes are going for about $542,000 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -East Shoreham sits at 22.0 per 100K. It's a a small town city with about 7,279 people. The median home value here is around $542,000, which is pretty steep. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 4 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
