Hey, Homes are going for about $1,192,000 on average. Average temperature is around 59--F, so the weather is moderate. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

I've lived in South for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- The weather scene is tough
The downsides:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 11 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into running, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

Came here for work and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The weather is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'm a lawyer and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is tough and there's always something going on.
