Commute times in Eastlawn Gardens -how bad?

First post here. The unemployment rate is 1.1%, which is pretty low. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I'm a lawyer and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Chicago it's pretty good.

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Chicago about 3 years ago. The main reasons were family and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Came here for family and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The traffic is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is better than expected in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 39, moved here 3 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Meadowbrook and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The traffic situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for remote workers. excellent vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
