Moved here from Portland about 2 years ago. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Still getting used to walkability but It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the South side. Completely different vibe. the quality of life is solid.

Moved here from Minneapolis about 4 years ago. it's not perfect but it works for me. Still getting used to community vibe but No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 6 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
