Dog-friendly places in Echelon?

Hey everyone, I'm a 37-year-old police officer and The city has invested a lot in new development. Anyone in a similar situation?

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The walkability is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

I'm a HR manager and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is average and there's always something going on.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a accountant, 45, moved here 3 years ago from Portland. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Downtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The pet-friendliness situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for remote workers. improving vibes, walkable.
- Downtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Portland, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $70K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Used to live on the Oak Park side, now on the Maple Ridge side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 1 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into running, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a sales manager, 56, moved here 10 years ago from Portland. I've lived in Uptown and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The dating scene situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for couples. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Portland, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $80K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
