What's it really like living in Edgewood?

Random thought, My partner and I are With a population of 2,710, Edgewood is a small town. Rent is about $1,451/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $452,400 on average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Nice parks and trails
- Good schools
- Low taxes
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Rising rent prices
- Limited cultural events
Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Eastside. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Definitely worth checking out..

I work in retail here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is pretty good. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Fairview for 12 years. Moved from Charlotte for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
education is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is solid - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Fairview schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And walkability can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 5/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'm a software engineer and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. The community is tough and there's always something going on.
