Most overrated things about Edgewood

Hey, My partner and I are Median household income is $121,045, which feels pretty solid for the area. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Any advice would be great. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Atlanta about 1 years ago. The main reasons were work and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are affordable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely excellent and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (West) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Boston about 13 years ago. The main reasons were work and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is excellent.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Tampa about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are affordable, gas is improving.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 57, moved here 10 years ago from Atlanta. I've lived in Old Town and Fairview, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Road conditions need improvement
2. Can feel isolated
3. The pet-friendliness situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for couples. average vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Atlanta, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Springfield for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Four distinct seasons
- The cultural scene scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Happy to answer more specific questions..

The food scene here is underrated. Tons of great Thai places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
