Moving to Edinburg -what should I know?

My family moved here when I was a kid. Household incomes average around $57,789 in Edinburg. Rent is about $968/month for a decent place. It's a a mid-size city city with about 103K people. With a population of 103K, Edinburg is a mid-size city. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. What do you all think? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Uptown. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Definitely worth checking out..
