Been meaning to ask this. I work in media and Rent is about $1,313/month for a decent place. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up.

I've lived in Old Town for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Active local events and festivals
- The public transit scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Miami about 5 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Affordable housing options
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are developing, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Hope this helps!.
