Random thought, The unemployment rate is 2.4%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Edmond sits at 145.7 per 100K. Household incomes average around $102,032 in Edmond. Rent is about $1,313/month for a decent place. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Would love some local perspective. TIA! There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Austin about 1 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is average.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a social worker, 30, moved here 8 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Greenfield and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The job market situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for families. tough vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $80K-$70K here.
**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Atlanta about 14 years ago. The main reasons were family and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Urban sprawl is real
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are wild, gas is decent.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Hope this helps!.

Used to live on the Maple Ridge side, now on the Springfield side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Sunset area are decent. Kids love it here.
