Homes are going for about $324,900 on average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Has anyone dealt with this? The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. **Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
education is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Downtown schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Austin about 10 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are affordable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Sunset. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in tech. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Thai.
