What surprised you most about Edmonds?

Hey folks, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and You can expect to pay around $1,850 for rent here. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Has anyone dealt with this?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Boston about 3 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a project manager, 29, moved here 6 years ago from San Francisco. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Growing food and restaurant scene
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Limited shopping options
3. The food scene situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for singles. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Francisco, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 13 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Bought a house here in 2019 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for work and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor recreation is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
