Hi all, With a population of 26,543, Edwardsville is a smaller city. Poverty rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is dating scene. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

I'm a HR manager and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is solid and there's always something going on.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much wild but now it's improving.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value food scene, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely better than expected and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (The Heights) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
