Hey everyone, Household incomes average around $76,847 in Edwardsville. Homes are going for about $165,700 on average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Thoughts? The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Bought a house here in 2020 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Midtown. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in education. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Old Town. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in education. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like sushi.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Used to live on the Midtown side, now on the Maple Ridge side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights
- The public transit scene is average
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from San Diego about 13 years ago. The main reasons were weather and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is improving.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Definitely worth checking out..
