Considering Eggertsville vs San Francisco -help me decide
Median household income is $82,359, which feels pretty solid for the area. The median home value here is around $225,400, which is actually reasonable. With a population of 15,416, Eggertsville is a small town. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Is this normal for Eggertsville? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is better than expected in most areas.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Riverside for 13 years. Moved from Charlotte for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
government is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is average - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Riverside schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Chain restaurants dominate. And cultural scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 5/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Came here for school and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The school system is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Moved here from Nashville about 3 years ago. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Still getting used to public transit but Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
