Affordable areas near El Cajon?

Alright, I'm a college student here and Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. Household incomes average around $66,478 in El Cajon. You can expect to pay around $1,790 for rent here. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 5 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
