Moving to El Cajon -what should I know?

Hey, I'm a college student here and With a population of 105K, El Cajon is a mid-size city. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I overthinking this?

Came here for quality of life and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The safety is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
