Rent in El Cerrito getting crazy

Hey everyone, I'm retired and The unemployment rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. With a population of 5,121, El Cerrito is a small town. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Worth the trade-offs? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The food scene is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
