Hot take: El Paso's best years are behind it

Quick one -

I'm a 45-year-old military vet who's been in El Paso for 7 years. The school system in Sunset Heights is actually great.

Median income here is around which {inc_feel}. I'm paying /mo for a 1-bed in Sunset Heights and honestly is pretty standard.

People here are friendlier than I expected coming from Tampa. The parks system here is underrated.

Would love local perspectives.

I've lived in both Kern Place and Mission Hills. Completely different vibes. The weather took some getting used to but I actually love it now..

Great question. Here's my honest take after 1 years:

The good:
- Nice downtown area
- Good airport
- Diverse neighborhoods

The not-so-good:
- Limited public transit
- Limited diversity in some areas

I've never felt unsafe walking around {hood} at night.. I'd say for families, El Paso is hit or miss. Good luck!

Gonna share a detailed perspective since most replies are pretty surface-level.

I'm a freelancer in Sunset Heights. Been here since 2021. I've never felt unsafe walking around {hood} at night..

Neighborhood-wise, Sunset Heights has really shifted in the past few years. Canutillo is the up-and-coming spot right now. East Side is where I'd look if budget is a concern.

Job market for healthcare: underrated. For engineering: lively.

The school system in {hood} is actually {adj}.
