Housing market in El Paso — is it worth buying?
Median home value here is around $171,700. Prices are reasonable compared to major metros. For those renting, typical rent is $1041.
Is now a good time to buy in El Paso? Or better to keep renting?
Looking for opinions from both homeowners and renters.

Respectfully disagree about the cost of living assessment. In my experience, it really depends on your lifestyle.

Traffic is the worst part honestly. But if you live near work it's fine.

The job market has been improving lately. Several finance companies moved in recently.

I'd add that healthcare options are better than most cities this size. Otherwise spot on!

Public transit needs work but they're investing in it. Should improve in next few years.

Totally agree with this. I've been here 3 years and my experience is very similar.

As someone who moved here from LA, I can confirm most of this. The job opportunities surprised me the most.

Rent tip: look for places in fall. Prices drop and there's more availability.
