I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Median household income is $54,459, which feels on the lower side for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -El Reno sits at 211.8 per 100K. Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Charlotte it's better than expected.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 2 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hot take but it was the best decision I ever made. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.

The food scene here is solid. Tons of great Indian places. it's not perfect but it works for me.
