Pros and cons of El Segundo after 4 years

Anyone else feel this way? Household incomes average around $149,149 in El Segundo. Rent is about $2,547/month for a decent place. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Does this match your experience?

Used to live on the Cedar Grove side, now on the Greenfield side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The nightlife is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a HR manager, 37, moved here 3 years ago from Portland. I've lived in Old Town and Lakewood, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Summers can be brutally hot
3. The cost of living situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for remote workers. decent vibes, walkable.
- Lakewood: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Portland, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $60K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
