Cost of living reality check -Eldersburg

Hey folks, Poverty rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Eldersburg sits at 45.0 per 100K. With a population of 30,626, Eldersburg is a smaller city. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Does this match your experience? The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Bought a house here in 2024 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Boston it's surprisingly good.

The food scene here is better than expected. Tons of great craft beer places. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Came here for school and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The traffic is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.
