Is Elgin still affordable?

OK so We're a young couple and Median household income is $88,316, which feels pretty solid for the area. The city has invested a lot in new development. Any advice would be great.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
