Hello, Just moved here 7 months ago and Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. Household incomes average around $56,250 in Elizabethtown. The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Looking forward to hearing from you all. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. the quality of life is solid. Internet is average in most areas.

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is housing market. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Riverside. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in real estate. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Raleigh about 5 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is improving.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- The community vibe scene is tough
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a electrician, 34, moved here 14 years ago from Atlanta. I've lived in South and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Property taxes are high
3. The safety situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for retirees. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Atlanta, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in retail. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Raleigh it's improving.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. No regrets on my end..
